Alumna Zhenan Bao has won the 2020 Willard Gibbs Award.
The Willard Gibbs Award is given by the Chicago section of the American Chemical Society to publicly recognize eminent chemists who, through years of application and devotion, have brought to the world developments that enable everyone to live more comfortably and to understand this world better.
"I am thrilled and humbled to receive this honor. It is special to me not only because there have been so many giants and my chemistry heroes who were previous winners, but also Chicago is a special place to me," said Zhenan Bao, "Chicago was the place I started my life in US. I have fond memories of my graduate studies at the University of Chicago. I am greatly indebted to my Ph.D. advisor Luping Yu, who taught me how to do research and introduced me to the exciting world of conjugated polymers".
Zhenan Bao is currently the Department Chair and K.K. Lee Professor of Chemical Engineering, a Professor of Chemistry and a Professor of Material Science and Engineering at Stanford University. Bao founded the Stanford Wearable Electronics Initiate (eWEAR) in 2016 and serves as the faculty director.
