Congratulations to graduate student Yuanwen Jiang, for receiving a National Graduate Research Award from the American Vacuum Society and a Graduate Student Award from the Materials Research Society. Jiang, who joined the Tian lab in 2012, is finishing his thesis, Rational Design of Silicon Structures for Multiscale Biointerfaces, which investigates bottom-up synthesis of silicon-based devices for interrogating biophysical processes. Some of this work has already been published in Science and Nature Materials, with a third paper, “Alloy-assisted deposition of three-dimensional arrays of atomic gold catalyst for crystal growth studies,” in Nature Communications December 8. Jiang will join Zhenan Bao's lab at Stanford as a postdoctoral scholar this spring.
