Four UChicago Chemistry Students Awarded 2024 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships

 

Nine Uchicago Physical Sciences Division graduate students have been awarded 2024 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships.

Out of the nine, four students have been selected from the UChicago Department of Chemistry, as well as two students who received honorable mentions.

Emma Mcnesby, (Engel group), Noah Mason (Talapin Group), Claire Jones (Engel Group) and Alex Berlaga have all been awarded 2024 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships.

Additionally, Lillian Irene Payne Torres (Mazziotti Group) and Joseph S Scott (Anderson Group) received Honorable Mentions.

Congratulations to all five students who received honors and mentions.

 

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) was established to ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education. The GRFP provides three years of support over a five-year fellowship period for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education.
