Anti-Harassment Statement
The Department of Chemistry is committed to providing its faculty, staff, postdocs, and students the opportunity to pursue excellence in their academic and professional endeavors free from harassment. This opportunity can exist only when each member of our department is assured of an atmosphere of mutual respect and civility.
Harassment refers to intimidating, hostile, or offensive behavior which is pervasive enough that is unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance or educational program participation. Harassment includes, but is not limited to: unwanted physical contact; bullying; demeaning treatment; use of epithets, inappropriate jokes, comments, insults or innuendos; obscene or harassing telephone calls, emails, letters, and notes or other forms of communication.
Harassment violates the dignity of individuals and impedes the department’s educational and research mission. Complaints will be dealt with promptly to stop the harassment, inappropriate and unprofessional behavior whenever or wherever it occurs.
